Incisive Media Foundation raises £100,000 for charity

This has been achieved through a mixture of staff fundraising events, sponsored activities and some major successes for all three charities at a range of awards nights run by Incisive Media’s market-leading brands

The year got off to a great start for the Foundation when the Risk Awards in January raised over £18,000 for EdUKaid, enabling the final work on a fourth major school renovation project in Tanzania to be completed and work to accommodate a ground-breaking community education project in Mikindani to be started.

The two new UK partner charities CHICKS; and Place2Be have also enjoyed success with Incisive Media’s audiences as Place2Be raised nearly £11,000 at the Pensions Awards at the beginning of May.

This was eclipsed last week at the Hedge Fund Review Awards with an overwhelming show of generosity for the chosen charity CHICKS. Marion Luckhurst, a trustee of CHICKS, clearly connected with the audience when talking about the fantastic work that CHICKS does to give disadvantaged children a break from tough home conditions and allow them to have the much-needed attention they deserve. CHICKS’ wish list of replacing their very tired but vital minibuses clearly resonated with the audience and by the end of the evening two replacement minibuses at £25,000 each had been pledged. Alongside this was a phenomenal response to our silent auction, with tickets to a Rod Stewart concert being donated on the night, and cash donations and pledges making it one of Incisive Media Foundations most successful nights to date, raising approaching £60,000 in total.

Elanor Hoskin, chief executive, CHICKS, said: “We are staggered at the generosity of the audience which will make such an enormous difference to our activities supporting disadvantaged children up and down the country. We are so thrilled to be working in partnership with the Incisive Media Foundation and grateful to have their support and are thankful to them for making all this possible”.

Incisive’s staff have been busy raising money, too, with a raffle at their own awards night in January, a quiz night, a cake sale and an all-female team from events operations recently running 5K in Regent’s Park for CHICKS.

The team set an original target of £500 with the promise that, if met, one of them would wear the CHICKS bear mascot Mas for the run! Organiser and Foundation committee member Claire Deeks said: “This seemed to boost donations and before we knew it we had hit over £1,000! Mas had a fantastic day out (Faye didn’t have so much fun on a very hot day in a giant bear costume) and was photographed around the whole route! Not only was an outstanding amount of money raised by the team (£1,160) but Mas and the team have helped raise CHICKS’ profile in London”.

With plenty more client and staff events planned in support of the Foundation charities, 2013 is on course to be a record year for Incisive Media’s charitable support.
